Punjab-government to launch hybrid buses According to Punjab Mass-transit Authority (PMTA) and media reports, Prime minister of Pakistan has approved recommendations of Government of Punjab on behalf of Chief Minister of Punjab to convert 250 metro buses into electric or hybrid technology. There will be a strict prohibition on the usage of diesel and petrol for public transport network. Because from now onward the new transport system will run through hybrid technology for curbing environmental pollution. PMTA has been directed by the government to issue tenders by the start of next month because the current agreement is going to expire in 2020. And whichever company accepts the tender has plenty of time to put electric or hybrid buses in place.
