Pakistan to launch university in honor of Baba Buru Nanak in Nankana Sahib

As it is said that, a journey of thousand miles start with a single step. And that step I mean initiative can change destination or future of that nation.

Earlier this week on Monday, Prime of Islamic republic of Pakistan Imran Khan, despite being extreme pressure from opposition parties to step down or face agitation, and pressure from bounder along LOC ( India and Pakistan) laid the foundation stone of a university named after respectful Baba Guru Nanak, the founder of Sikhism, who was born in "NANKANA SAHAB",  a small town in Punjab where Sikhs from around the world go for pilgrimage, ahead of his 550th birth anniversary next month.

Imran khan clearly said while addressing the foundation ceremony that it is only education which can bridge that gap between India and Pakistan. Its time for us to stand up and fights our mistakes (both India and Pakistan).  By setting up an internationally recognized university we can pay the best tribute to Baba Guru Nanak. There is no doubt that an education is the key to nations success. Pakistan only believes in excellence and commitment.

Baba Guru Nanak University will be set up on approximately 10 acres of land with a cost of Rs 6 billion in Nankana sahib, located 75 kilometres away from the provincial capital, Lahore. The campus of university will be unique and well developed.

Tribute to Baba Guru Nanak G

Imran Khan said that laying the foundation stone of Baba Guru Nanak University (BNGU) at Nankana Sahib is an apt tribute on occasion of 550th birth anniversary of Baba Guru Nanak Dev Ji. He further said that kartarpur is the Madina of the Sikh community and Nankana sahib is Makkah”.

Imran khan also said that people from all over the world especially Sikh community will be able to get an education at the university. Setting up the university, is the fundamental part of his plans to promote the educational sector and the fundamental step towards completion of my goals and promises which would help students of Nankana district in Punjab.

For the construction of academic blocks and hostels for the accommodation of students, central government of Punjab has released initial funds.

 Baba Guru Nanak university is expected to facilitate between 5,000 and 10,000 students from all over the world and will be offering faculties of various departments. This university is going to be internationally recognized.

Religious tourism

Establishment of this university will definitely work to encourage religious tourism in the country, above and beyond serving as a community centre for the Sikhs, based in Pakistan and abroad.

Imran khan further added that no matter how bad relations Pakistan has with India, the Sikhs would never be stopped from visiting their holy sites in Pakistan and we will welcome them at any point in time. According to the statistics, more than 5,000 Sikhs are entering Pakistan from kartarpur border to perform their religious activities in kartarpur.

According to the newsflash, this institute would also be helpful in sponsoring religious tourism in Pakistan and will be a cause of pride for the Sikhs community living across the world.

The university would also offer research and academic activities, on the life of Baba Guru Nanak G.
